Note: Spoilers for Episode 3 of this adventure are included.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
The latest chapter finished on a dramatic pause and introduced the initial group of characters who will branch out from the primary party to begin their separate journey, distinct from the remaining groups.
This warrior group consists of the determined fighter (brought to life by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
With 13 cast members, it was evident from the start that keeping everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, intertwining the individual narratives before branching into three separate parties: Soldiers, Planners, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
According to the DM, the combat-focused party is for participants who prefer a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven story mode where peaceful solutions are scarce.
Upon first impression, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander might appear out of place, but the events of the third episode show why these five characters are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the group knows exactly where to head next after a intense opening clash with the antagonists.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose demise kicked off the campaign’s events—used the foes for his selfish purposes, breaking into the secret base, assaulting Thimble, and taking all the enchanted items to auction.
The traitor then settled his liabilities and escaped to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the city, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each character has a specific drive to depart Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as the close ally and closest confidant, wants retribution.
- The adventurer knows Timmony and advises that it is a hostile location.
- The strong character and The cleric, having defied his relatives’ demands to eliminate the target and instead freed him, have no other options.
- But, their position as prominent individuals in the influential clan could help the group reach areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, The grateful character swore a life debt to The savior for his deliverance and will now go with him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are wanted by the powers that govern the city for a multiple motives, making lingering locally dangerous:
- The rogue and The character are known criminals.
- Tyranny and The healer betrayed the powerful family and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- The target is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This results in them no alternative but to journey toward Timmony in pursuit of Casimir.
What’s Next?
Based on the latest episode’s post-show segment, we learn that the Soldiers table won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight participants to form the Explorers and Schemers parties.
Viewers can expect finding out which characters will be assigned to which table in the story’s final introductory chapter, released on the upcoming Thursday.
